Back from Break

We started our spring break vacation out by heading to Hoodoo ski area for some spring skiing. We arrived in the evening and sadly our dog Grace nearly ripped her toenail off while running on the ice. In the morning, we took her to an amazing vet in Sisters Oregon who performed surgery on her and had her ready to go by the end of the day. Luckily, we made it to the mountain just as it opened. We happily skied the whole day away and we all had an amazing time, especially my son who really fell in love with the sport again. After picking up Grace, we spent the night in Sisters and had a great time playing with the local geese and ducks who hung around our site and played some family games before heading to bed very tired from a long day of skiing.

Making a friend

We headed down the road first thing in the morning and made it to The Painted Hills, one of the three units of the John Day Fossil Beds National Monument, in time for lunch. The hills were so beautiful and I am very glad I was finally able to see them. Afterward, we headed down the road to Idaho and managed to sneak in a quick dinner with my husband’s oldest brother before calling it a night.

Dinner with Rick

We met up with my sister’s family the following day at my parent’s house for a tasty lunch and a couple of hours of catching up. Sadly, we were so busy eating lunch and chatting, I only grabbed my phone for a couple of photos. I am so mad at myself! We headed down the road with my sister’s family to Boise to stay for the remainder of our trip.

Grace LOVES Papa!

We spent the rest of our vacation having a wonderful time hanging out together and with my sister’s family and her fun neighbors. We also managed to meet up with four of our dear friends for dinner to celebrate my husband’s birthday. It was a wonderful trip and I am so thankful I was able to see so many people that we love. I have finished 11 loads of laundry today with one to go. I’ll be back to cooking new recipes tomorrow.
