Buttermilk Marinated Roasted Chicken Drumsticks

Buttermilk Marinated Roasted Chicken Drumsticks

When I saw the recipe at Nibble Me This for this marinade, I knew I would make it. My kids are loving drumsticks lately and I am always on the lookout for new marinade recipes. The marinade took minutes to throw together and I let the chicken marinate for 6 hours. I ended up roasting the chicken instead of grilling and it turned out terrific. The meat was tender, juicy, and flavorful and the kids and my husband gave it a thumbs up. I served these drumsticks with Green Bean Bacon Wrapped Bundles and Scalloped Potatoes. Thanks for the terrific marinade recipe, Chris!

How to Make Buttermilk Marinated Roasted Chicken Drumsticks

Combine the buttermilk, Greek yogurt, lime juice, sea salt, freshly cracked pepper, crushed red pepper flakes, oregano, onion powder, and minced garlic together in a large ziplock; mix until well combined. Add the drumsticks to the marinade and place them into the refrigerator for 6-8 hours.

Take the chicken drumsticks out of the refrigerator 20 minutes prior to cooking them. Preheat the oven to 425 degrees. Line a baking sheet with tin foil then coat it with cooking spray.

Remove the drumsticks from the marinade and season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste.

  2. These drumsticks sound delicious! Bet the buttermilk makes them extra tender. I love drumsticks because they’re such an affordable cut of chicken, and they’re often on sale. Great served with those sides too : )

  3. I have previously asked for buttermilk at the supermarkets here and was told to find a dairy farmer!! I now use crème fraiche instead. I will give it a try with this recipe. Thanks. Keep well Diane
