Sausage Gravy with Biscuits

Sausage Gravy with Biscuits

I rarely ever let myself indulge in biscuits and gravy for obvious reasons but they are one of my favorite breakfast foods. My kids have never had it and I recently found a tube of sausage in my freezer that needed to be used up. The school was canceled due to weather yesterday so I thought I would surprise them with this hearty breakfast. It’s so easy to make and fills you up for a big day of playing outside. My kids both loved it and had the leftovers before school today. I admit I had a bit of a biscuit with the gravy and it was so good… it took all my strength not to eat a whole biscuit!

How to Make Sausage Gravy with Biscuits

Pinch the sausage from the tube into bite-sized pieces and place it into a single layer in a large skillet over medium-high heat; cook until no longer pink, making sure to break up the sausage into small crumbles as it cooks.

Sprinkle the flour over the sausage and stir until completely combined. Cook for a minute or two before slowly adding the milk while stirring constantly. Cook the gravy, stirring often, until it thickens. Taste and season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste. Turn off the heat and the gravy will thicken as it cools. Serve over hot biscuits. Enjoy!
