Simply Baked Sweet Potatoes

Simply Baked Sweet Potatoes

I had a craving for a baked sweet potato so I decided to pair it with the Julia Child’s Favorite Roast Chicken I was making for dinner. I baked them in the oven then seasoned them with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste and added a dollop of butter. Lastly, I grated some fresh nutmeg on top – this made these sweet potatoes extra special. We all loved them, especially my children, who gobbled up every last bite.

How to Make Simply Baked Sweet Potatoes

Preheat the oven to 400 degrees.

Clean the sweet potatoes then poke them with a fork in a few places. Once the oven is hot, place them on the center rack and bake them for 45-50 minutes, or until tender when a knife is inserted into the center. Remove the cooked potatoes from the oven, slice them down the center then pinch each end of the potato towards the middle. Add butter then season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste. Grate some fresh nutmeg over the top and serve immediately. Enjoy.

  1. I love baked sweet potatoes! So yummy, and yes with nutmeg! I also sprinkle the tiniest bit of brown sugar on top too!

    Happy Fall to you!

  2. Here in the Philippines, we like it glazed with brown sugar. But I don’t want to conform to the usual here, so I’m looking for other ways of cooking ‘camote’ (sweet potatoes). Other commenters have great input.
