Garlicky Asparagus with a Splash of Lemon

Garlicky Asparagus with a Splash of Lemon

I had a bunch of asparagus to use up so I decided to make some garlicky asparagus with a splash of lemon.  I steamed it for a bit then sautéed garlic chips in garlic olive oil before adding the asparagus to the pan.  I seasoned the asparagus with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper and a splash of lemon right before serving.  It was healthy and delicious and paired nicely with some roasted chicken–sometimes simple food is the best food!

How to Make Garlicky Asparagus with a Splash of Lemon

Heat a 1/4 cup of water in a small skillet over medium heat.  Add the asparagus to the pan and cover it with a lid.  Steam the asparagus for 3-4 minutes, or until fork-tender.

Remove the asparagus and water from the skillet then add the garlic olive oil.  Once the olive oil is hot, add the garlic chips and cook, stirring constantly, for 1 minute.  Add the asparagus to the pan then toss to coat evenly.  Season with sea salt and freshly cracked pepper, to taste, and a splash of lemon juice.  Serve immediately.  Enjoy.

  1. I love asparagus with lots of black pepper, but I’ve never tried it with garlic. I have one bunch left in the fridge; maybe this is its destiny?

  2. Yummy ! I love asparagus, and am at this very moment, waiting for my husband to get home from work with some for dinner! He said he would stop at the market for some milk and asparagus. Now I am really hungry!! Hope you had a nice Easter!

  3. Asparagus is one of my favorite veggies ever and I think it’s because I didn’t try it until I was an adult. I like this preparation that you did, I could eat it like a snack.

  4. This recipe combines everything I love: asparagus and garlic! Usually I prepare a very similar recipe, but I don’t steam the asparagus, I simply saute them in olive oil with the garlic. I also like to add coarse sea salt.
