Baked Spicy Chicken Wings

I decided to bake my husband some chicken wings this weekend using a recipe I found on Simply Recipes.  I marinated the wings with his favorite hot sauce, Frank’s Red Hot, and some seasonings for a few hours before broiling them.  They turned out moist, tender, SPICY, and really delicious – he loved them.  They went really nicely with the blue cheese dressing that I served on the side.  

Combine the butter, hot sauce, paprika, sea salt, cayenne pepper, and freshly cracked pepper together in a bowl. Mix well then pour half of the marinade into a large zip lock bag.  Place the chicken wings into the bag with the marinade then seal. Combine the chicken wings in the sauce until evenly coated. Place into the refrigerator for 6 hours.  Place the the other half of the extra sauce/marinade into a covered dish then place into the refrigerator for later use.

Remove the chicken (and the extra marinade) from the refrigerator 30 minutes prior to cooking. Heat the oven to broil. Coat a broiler pan with cooking spray then place the wings on the broiler pan, discarding the used marinade. Place the chicken under the broiler about 4-5 inches from the heat; cook for 10 minutes on each side, watching carefully so it doesn’t burn. Remove the chicken from the oven and baste with the remaining sauce. Place back under the broiler and cook for 2-3 minutes or until the chicken is tender and no longer pink. Remove from the oven and baste with any extra sauce before putting it on a serving plate. Serve the chicken wings with blue cheese dressing. Enjoy.

Total Time: 20-25 minutes

2 lbs chicken wings (about 12 wings)
6 tbsp butter, melted
1/2 cup of Frank's Original
2 tsp paprika
