Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

Chocolate Chip Oatmeal CookiesI have been doing more baking lately because both of my kids want to “help” me in the kitchen. Baking cookies is an easy & fun way to connect with my kids. These chocolate chip oatmeal cookies turned out really good! They’re chewy on the inside and slightly crunchy on the outside. They are extra delicious when dipped into ice-cold milk.

How to Make Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Cookies

  • 1 stick of butter, softened
  • 1/4 cup white sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp vanilla
  • 1/2 cup PLUS 2 tbsp of flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp baking soda
  • 1 1/2 cups of quick-cooking oats
  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet mini chocolate chips
  • 1/4 cup walnuts, chopped (optional)

Preheat the oven to 325 degrees.

In a mixer, combine the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until creamy. Mixing slowly, add the egg along with the vanilla.

In a separate bowl combine the flour, salt, and baking soda; slowly stir the flour mixture into the creamed mixture until blended.

Add the oats, chocolate chips & nuts then mix thoroughly.

Drop spoonfuls onto an ungreased baking sheet. Bake for 12-14 minutes. Cool on a wire rack. Enjoy!

  1. I made these tonight and they’re so yummy. It makes a small batch so it’s just right! I didn’t have mini chips (just regular) or nuts, but they still turned out great. This will be my go to recipe when I’m craving a sweet!
